Fox Island Community & Recreation Association (FICRA)

A Letter From FICRA

Dear fellow Fox Island Resident,
The purpose of FICRA is to provide social and recreational opportunities for the residents of Fox Island at the Nichols Community Center. Funds collected by FICRA are used to maintain the Center, and produce Fox Island community events, which provide entertainment for all the residents.

As we approach the fall of 2005, we find that less than half of the 1500 families living on Fox Island have supported our community activities by paying their FICRA dues. As a resident of Fox Island, you are automatically a member of FICRA, and are welcome to attend any FICRA sponsored event. You may have noticed that FICRA uses a low-key approach for fund raising. We maintain donation booths at FICRA events and occasionally mention dues payment in newsletters.

Our fund raising efforts will continue to be low-key. However, we are doing everything possible to ensure that events and programs offered by FICRA earn your gratitude, respect and subsequently your dues payment. As a family organization, FICRA offers several events during the year, such as the FICRA Fair, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Tree Lighting, FICRA Scholarship and other programs, which depend upon FICRA dues and donated funds by Island residents to make them a reality.

We have recently added a new committee to the FICRA organization to address the growing crime problem on the Island; the Fox Island Crime Watch Committee. Due to the increase in vandalism to street signs and mailboxes, burglaries and identity theft, we have established an organized approach utilizing the resources of Neighborhood Watch and Crime Patrol. Adding an additional $5.00 to your dues payment will help us in the efforts to prevent crime in our neighborhoods.

If you have already paid your dues, FICRA is extremely thankful for your continued financial support.

Thanks for taking the time to consider our request,

John Ohlson
FICRA President

PS: We welcome your voluntary participation in future FICRA events. FICRA meetings are the Fox Island equivalent of a "Town Hall" meeting, and are held on the first Thursday of every month at
7:30 p.m. in the Nichols Community Center, 690 9th Ave. See you there!
